Research Experience

Observational Astronomy:

Characteristic Study of Red Dwarfs using Hertzsprung-Russell and Infrared Color-Color Diagrams

Guided a group of school and undergrad students for Summer Research Camp by Research Convention. In this project work, we have collected a sample of 58 red dwarfs from various catalogs and presented them on H-R and Infrared color- color diagrams. Based on the results the characteristic nature of Red Dwarfs is discussed.

Observational Astronomy:

Ultra-Short Period Eclipsing Binaries

Worked on ultra-short period eclipsing binaries for Masters’ thesis, wherein the parameters of those objects have been determined and the fate of such objects which are least studied have been concluded.

Observational Astronomy:

Exoplanets

Part of Summer Research Programme by S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences-Worked on exoplanet Kepler-8b transit light curves and studied different analysis methods.

Observations Experience

In-person & Remote observations at National facilities

PhD Research Work-Writing observation proposals and carrying-out target observations.

Observations are proposed to various National observing facilities such as VBT, JCBT and HCT for Photometric and Spectroscopic data.

The observations are carried-out on allotted nights in-person and remotely.

Department observation sessions

Target observations and outreach activities.

Sun, Moon and planets Observations are carried-out regularly using a 6-inch Newtonian Reflector and a 12-inch Cassegrain Reflector Telescope at the Department of Astronomy, Osmania University and at the Japal-Rangapur Observatory (JRO).

Practical Astronomy

Master’s Course Work-Sun and Moon observations.

Sun, Moon and planets observations have been carried-out using a 3-inch Newtonian Reflector. From the obtained images of Sun, using a photo-sensitive diode, limb darkening effect of Sun was verified.
